The Role

Changing Health is looking for a Data Engineer (consultant) for a three month period (Aug – Oct 2020) to oversee design, build, integrate and document data from multiple datasets.

Ensuring we bring on board the right consultant is important to us, so we are happy to consider a time commitment of between 3 and 5 days per week, this is not an office based role, so we will consider applications from all geographical areas.

Key Deliverables

Working with stakeholders across the business, (including but not limited to), the Business data Analyst, the development team and the Reporting and Insight Analyst you’ll be handling the design and construction of scalable data infrastructure and supporting systems, to ensure that all data systems meet company requirements.
By the end of the three month period, the expectation is that you will complete associated work and document processes in and around the following areas:

  • Matching of existing data sets to business requirements and the identification of any potential gaps.
  • Understand the current data schemas, data locations and have implemented new data schemas.
  • Be the point of contact for data queries, data investigation and cleansing.
  • Review existing data sets, providing documentation that covers existing design and flows.
  • Be proposing and executing data flows and identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Have technical ownership of data analytics tools and the integration with data sets.
  • Support database backup, performance and resource allocation and audit monitoring.
  • Document the database schema, flows and processes to provide a central Knowledge Base to support the data team, and the wider company.

What type of person is a fit for this role?

Reporting into the Chief Technology Officer, as an experienced data engineer, with a minimum of 3 years experience you will know the ins and outs of the industry, such as data mining practices and algorithms, as well as how the data can be used. You have experience in, and are able to lead in Database Design, Data Maintenance, Database Security, Database Management and Database Scalability. This, along with your strong data and analytical skills will enable you to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on your analysis.

You are a strong analytical thinker, with specific focus in the areas of design, flow and integration of data. You have a high degree of understanding of SQL and MongoDB and are experienced in working with Cloud SAAS providers. Specific experience of working with Google Cloud, Mixpanel, Zoho Analytics and Google analytics, would be advantageous, as would experience of working with tools that visualise and capture data, for example Grafana and Sentry.

You have strong attention to detail and a passion for optimising the use of data in a fast growing company. You’re passionate about business and dissatisfied with the status quo so you are always thinking of ways to problem solve.

You are used to working with individuals and teams in a business to understand the business requirements; you are also confident in working withTechnical Development teams and Technical Partners in and around implementation and support.
